Cloud Mac Rental

Cloud Mac rental lets you use a real Mac over the internet instead of keeping one on your desk. With Hatmac, that Mac is a dedicated Apple silicon Mac mini or Mac Studio, from $119/mo.

What is a cloud Mac

A cloud Mac is a Mac that runs somewhere else and that you use remotely. You see its desktop in a window on your own computer, or you connect to its terminal. Everything you install and every file you save stays on that Mac.

Because macOS and Xcode only run on Apple hardware, a cloud Mac is how Windows and Linux users, and teams without spare Macs, get access to macOS. It is also a way to add a Mac for a project without buying one.

Cloud Macs are not all built the same. Some are virtual machines on shared hosts. At Hatmac, each one is a dedicated physical Mac assigned to one customer.

What people use a cloud Mac for

  • Building and shipping iOS apps. Xcode, simulators, signing and App Store uploads all need macOS. See iOS build server.
  • CI/CD. A self-hosted runner for GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins that keeps its caches between jobs.
  • Testing. Check websites in Safari and apps on a real macOS install.
  • Local AI. Run models with Ollama or MLX on unified memory, from small models on a Mac mini to 70B-class 4-bit models on a 96GB Mac Studio.
  • An everyday Mac desktop you can reach from any computer, including a Windows PC or a tablet.
  • Short projects. The Mac mini M4 and M6 are available month to month.
